About Zack's

Zack’s is located in a historically rich section of Hoboken. Zack’s corner building was constructed in the late 1880’s and originally housed a grocery store catering to the diverse immigrant population. When the commercial property was converted to a tavern in 1892, the current mahogany and oak bar was installed and it soon became a hub of activity, specifically for merchants and sailors stopping at the bar on their way home or to a SRO (single room occupancy). Keeping with its rich history, Zack’s has maintained its old world charm and appeal, preserving original tin ceilings, the oak bar, replicating the 19th century tiled floor, and adorning the walls with street scenes of old Hoboken. The result, a classic feel with modern execution.

We had a really wonderful brunch experience at Zack’s! The restaurant itself is incredibly cute with a great atmosphere, and the friendly staff made us feel welcome right away. We absolutely loved the outdoor seating, which provided the perfect setting for a relaxed weekend meal. The food was a highlight, starting with the short rib sandwich, which was the absolute star of the table. It was incredibly delicious, packed with flavor, and the meat was perfectly tender, not tough at all when biting into it. We also ordered the penne vodka, which was a great choice, and tried "The Willow" steak sandwich. Unfortunately, the Willow was a bit of a disappointment. It was completely bland and lacked flavor, and it was cooked closer to medium rather than the medium-rare we requested, which made it a little tough. It really could have used an au jus sauce or something extra on the side to give it a boost. Overall, it was still a great experience despite the miss on the steak sandwich. The excellent service, great ambiance, and fantastic short ribs made it a win.

Lively place. Six of us went on father's day brunch/lunch. We are all vegetarians (do eat eggs) and there were enough options. Everything was great but what stood out were truffle fries & muffins. Very good service too.

Been coming here for years. One of my favorite places in Hoboken. Great food and vibes. I also want to shout out our server Danna. She was incredible and accommodated my friend with food allergies. So appreciated and well done, thank you!

Zack’s has a nice atmosphere; brunch is quiet enough to catch up with friends and during the day the entire bar looks beautiful. The food was simple and to the point. The steak was a little overdone. I particularly loved the lemon ricotta pancakes. I just wish they had a mimosas offering (bottomless maybe?)
